The dancing happens by the way…

Somatic Dialogue is a gentle practice of body and mind in movement. It uses a soft and mindful approach to the body and enables the mind to accompany the body in a loving way. Through the facilitator’s guided dance improvisation exercises,  hands-on techniques and music, the participants can enter into an intimate dialogue with themselves and with the world surrounding them.

 

This method opens a space in us, where we can enter into a deep listening, discover our inner universe, and get closer to our physical, emotional, sensual and poetic selves.

 

A weekend of advanced movement practices based on Somatic Dialogue Principles

 

This weekend we will mainly focus on dance improvisation with the help of well defined guidelines, that enable us to find liberties and widen our range of movement and also experience how the expression is being born during the movement. We will feel the power of expression without “wanting” to express something in particular. 

Once we have experienced the birth of expressions we will then on the second day experience the dialogue of our expressions through partner work. Here the intimate exchange beyond words will stay only between ourselves and our partners. Poetry of movement that emerges in the in-between space of two persons who are willing to witness each other in movement.

 

Day 1:

11:00-13:00: Dance improvisation session, mainly focusing on floor work

13:00-14:00: Lunch break (open and common buffet in the studio)

14:00-17:00: Giving space to arms and legs, the dialogue of periphery and centres, and the expression travelling through the body

 

Day 2:

11:00-13:00: Feeling my expression, witnessing and being witnessed

13:00-14:00: Lunch break (open and common buffet in the studio)

14:00-17:00: Couple work exercises in which we will explore through the listening touch, how expression beyond words can touch us and lead us to an intimate ephemeral relationship between two, accompanied by music.

All workshops are for participants who have intermediate experience in dance/movement/improvisation, or who have followed 2 or more workshops of Somatic Dialogue. Intermediate participants are advised to join both days, while advanced participants may choose to attend either one or both days.

During the workshops we will work on 3 levels of space : horizontal- in-between and vertical. 

Participants should be familiar with Touch work or couple work.
